Club Van

Oct
26

Several FCARC board members when to NBC TV in Green Bay last Friday to pick up a van which the station donated to us. For those at the Monday club meeting, you'll know all about this.

We spent the entire day getting it ready to drive. That was almost exclusively dedicated to using heat shrink guns to remove the vinyl decals. The station management wanted all trace of NBC, etc. removed before we drove it away.

NIST station WWV and sister stations are among the oldest radio stations in the United States, having been in continuous operation since May 1920. The station has transmitted the official US Time for nearly 100 years, and is an instrumental part in the telecommunications field, ranging from broadcasting to scientific research and education. Additionally, these stations transmit marine storm warnings from the National Weather Service, GPS satellite health reports, and specific information concerning current solar activity, and radio propagation conditions.

Don Michalski, W9IXG SK

Aug

I do not have the words to express my thoughts at this time other than
to let you know with great sadness of the passing of Don Michalski,
W9IXG. He was my mentor and friend.

As Section Manager Don led the way for many of the improvements Amateur
Radio saw in Wisconsin. His dedication to Public Service helped provide
a strong foundation for ARES/RACES and all facets of Amateur Radio. His
work goes on supported by the many folks who knew him and appreciated
his energy and drive.

2018 EAA Special Event Station

Aug
13

The 2018 EAA Special event station was a great success. This was the first year
that W9ZL was on the air for the entire Airventure Fly-in, seven days, up from a
3-day event only a few years ago. We had great participation from both the Fox
cities Amateur Radio Club members and also had a good number of operators that
signed on from other clubs through out the state via the ARRL.
